The Straw That Can Save Lives
Danish water purification company Vestergaard Frandsen’s latest development could very possibly save millions of lives of those who struggle to find and produce clean water.
Their invention is the LifeStraw, a low-tech, low-hassle personal water filter that enables the user to simply stick one end into a water source of questionable cleanliness, such as a river, and suck. Several layers within the straw manage to filter out 99% of bacteria and viruses. Previously, people of areas with little clean water would be forced to boil water to ensure its safety, using up other resources in the process. With this invention, little maintenance would be required, and it could last for a year or two.
In addition to the personal filter, the company has developed a LifeStraw Family, which uses gravity rather than suction to filter water. By hanging this up in their homes and filling it with water, families would be able to open the bottom for clean, safe water.
These products do, however, have their limitations. While 99% of pathogens are removed, the filter is unable to prevent Giardia Lamblia from entering the filtered water, as this particular parasite is too small for the filters. The company is diligently working on a solution to this problem. Another potential problem is availability, since Vestergaard Frandsen is a small, struggling company that cannot quite afford to give out too many handouts.
Hopefully these problems can be overcome, as this product, in its current state, and especially once perfected, has the potential for aiding many who need it most.

Don’t let anyone bring you down

There are so many people in the world who are trying to kill your spirit, who are constantly reminding you about what went wrong with you, who are judging you, shouting at you under the pretext of being friends.. such people should be shown the finger right then and there.

As long as u stand by what you do, as long as you accept your mistake if you are wrong, as long as u understand where u went wrong, learn the lessons and u choose to pick up the pieces and move on …its alright.

Honestly I believe no one has the right to make u feel horrible about anything. As individuals we all are aware of right and wrong. And who the hell defines whats right and wrong anyway? At the end of the day it all comes down to what you and me define as wrong or right, its where we set our individual boundaries.

True friends, Best friends hold your hand when you go wrong, they don’t judge you or tell you that you are moving towards self destruction. They stand by you strong so that won’t even be a possibility. They are your strength, they never leave u vulnerable. They never say anything nasty about your family. When you go wrong sometimes(because that is human) they gently help you understand. They accept you as you are and never want to change anything about you. They love you as you are..

With me someone who even comes close to telling me that i am too emotional, or that I cry too often or that what I did or didn’t do was wrong or right, is trying to mold me in a way they think is suitable. I hate it. I hate such people, and the moment it happens.. I disconnect. That’s just the way I roll.

I love you PPSB. :) and i just want you happy.

MY BEST FRIEND IS GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Working aquatic-elephants like Rajan used to be a regular sight in the Andaman Islands, south of India, but this 60-year-old five tonne Asian elephant is the last of his kind. Thanks to the introduction of motor boats and other energy-saving technology, Rajan no longer needs to swim miles between islands to work for his masters, but can now enjoy swimming purely for pleasure. Rajan still swims for ten minutes twice a day, completing about 500 yards before heading back to shore. Brazilian Photographer, Daniel Botelho, 30, travelled to the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean after hearing stories of islanders swimming with the giant beasts. He said: “I almost got killed by the elephant during one photo shoot. Suddenly a swell came and took me and the elephant by surprise. I was stuck in the sand because of the crash of the wave. He did his best not to kill me - I felt him rolling on top and away from me.” Picture: Daniel Botelho / Barcroft Media

I don’t get this life, the more I live it, the more it confuses me. Where have those days gone when you couldn’t see the dirt inside people, when almost everyone around you seemed to have a golden heart. I miss being a naïve child; I miss life being simple… Its a curse to grow up; it really is

Ram Bomjon is a 16-year-old boy born and living in the village of Ratnapur who allegedly is in the process of transforming into the next incarnation of the Buddha. It has been claimed that the so-called “Buddha Boy” has been sitting under a pipal tree in uninterrupted meditation since May of 2005. According to the set of people who surround and control access to Ram Bomjon, he asserted just before sitting down that he was entering into a six-year meditative state in order to attain enlightenment, a la the original Buddha Siddhartha Gautama. According to the same set of people who surround and control access to Bomjon, he has not stirred from his meditation since May 2005, has had nothing to eat since May 2005, has continued meditating even after being bitten by a snake, and has caused two mute people in proximity to him to begin to speak.
